Most of the time our computer are infected by virus through pendrive. They are plugged in by our friends or other people. Antivirus cannot detect every virus in the pendrive. How can we prevent the virus from infecting our computer when our friends or other people plug in their pendrive into our computer?
  1. Disable the autorun feature completely is the best way! or follow the step below:
  2. In my computer / windows explorer, you must not double click the removable disk .
  3. If you double click the removable disk, your computer will be infected by virus if your USB pen drive has been already infected by virus.
  4. Instead, in my computer, click the folders button:
    Prevent USB pen drive virus
  5. The folder pane will be shown:

  6. From the pane, click the Removable Disk.
  7. Done!
Some people suggest that scan the pen drive first with latest updated antivirus, but the fact is that most of the time the antivirus fail to detect the virus in the pen drive. So, the best policy is to disable the autorun feature completely

Remove all viruses in pendrive
How to remove all viruses in pendrive? These are the ways:
  1. Use any anti-virus with latest updated virus definitions to scan the pendrive and remove the detected viruses.

  2. Goto command prompt.

  3. Type X: and press enter. You should change the X letter to the drive of the pendrive. Usually, the drive of the pendrive is E, F, G, H or I.

  4. Type dir /AS /S *.* and press enter.

  5. Wait for a little while until it lists all file with system attributes.

  6. Delete the listed file if the file you are sure are not belong to your pendrive. To delete the file, type del /F /A [path of the file] and press enter.
    (Example: del /F /A "X:\abc\debug_32.exe")

  7. If you are sure your pendrive just contain files which are not hidden or system only, you can try this method in command prompt to delete other suspicious virus files.
    Type del /F /AS /S *.* and press enter.
    Type del /F /AH /S *.* and press enter.

  8. Type Exit and press enter.

  9. Done!

How to kill USB Pendrive virus effectively?
Below are the procedures:
The following settings are set for once only:
  1. Make sure that your computer is in virus-free condition.
  2. In my computer, go to Tools Menu -> Folder Options
  3. Click View Tab.
  4. In Advance Settings:
    • Click the radio button of "Show Hidden files and folders" under Hidden files and folders
    • Uncheck the checkbox of "Hide extensions for known file types"
    • Uncheck the checkbox of "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)"
    • (A warning message box will come out, just click OK button)
  5. Click Ok button.
  6. If you explorer your C drive or any drive, you will see something you have never seen. However, please don't panic. I will explain in What are these files mean?.
These are the ways to kill the virus in the USB Pendrive:
  1. Make sure you have plug in the USB pendrive.
  2. Explore your USB pendrive by following the instructions in my post entitled Prevent USB pen drive virus
  3. If the pendrive is infected by virus, you will see some files which are covered with shalow white color:

  4. If the files are not your files (I mean you know that there is no such files in your pendrive), you should delete the files.
  5. After that, you should scan the pendrive with anti-virus with latest updated virus definitions.
  6. Done!
